The Vermillion Touch

A SARTORIAL CELEBRATION
Go ahead and mark the season in a sartorial celebration of the colour. You may opt for pure tradition and choose the red saree but this Durga Puja, for one of the special days, try this fabulous red number from Max Fashion. For the evening at-home, you may want to keep the ornamentation low and choose just one show-stopper piece of jewellery as you see here; for a larger gathering go ahead, reflect the glitter of the sequinned jacket with a gold choker, jhumkis and chunky rings.

DIFFERENT WAYS
Long red kurtas or those with a mix of reds and prints are the way to echo the bold spirit of Goddess Durga. This is the time to put away minimalism and revel in the Indian-ness of this festival. Not many may know that it was during the days of the Freedom Struggle that the celebration of this festival became more popular – the Goddess symbolised the rising tide of Indian nationalism. To keep up the mood, step out for the evening celebrations in a long red skirt embellished at the bottom, and paired with a choli top with embroidered sleeves – so contemporary yet so in keeping with the mood of the season, a modern-day ode to Goddess Durga, as it were!
