The Free Spirit

Getting bored easily is a trait of mine. And it is evident from how frequently I change my hair colour and now even my lipstick shade. I like experimenting with things that are new to me, something that I don’t really familiarise myself with. Like this Boho look for example. I don’t categorise my style into the Bohemian sector but sometimes I like working on that field. For a change. Because Monotony makes life so mundane. Therefore, I created this look with Boho elements, at the same time incorporating my personal style by adding a sleeveless duster coat to this look.

What I realised after wearing this look was how comfortable they look feels. Its not like I don’t wear Palazzo pants at all. But I find my style preferences lean more towards more skirts and dresses that are more form fitting at one point of my body. And this look is certainly a change from what I usually wear. Like they say, one needs to take one step at a time to incorporate changes into one’s life. And to me, experimenting opens many new doors that I never knew existed.

Frankly speaking, this look felt cool. Like how I would otherwise feel wearing the most ripped denims that I have! There is something really cool about the Bohemian style and I want to tap further into that feeling. Maybe I like this look because I’m fond of breezy fabrics. A friend of mine once suggested that she feels I have a personality that is very Boho to which I scoffed her off.

I told her that to me Boho was all about comfort dressing (which didn’t resonate so much with me  as I wear heels very often) and creating looks that I perceive as being “One with nature”. All the  Boho looks I’m inspired from, somehow feels like the most laid-back looks, created with ease. A  look that one can easily lounge around in, run around in, and perhaps even sleep in! But when I look  at people actually channelling that feeling and carrying the Boho look so well, it makes me wonder if  I should take a break often from my personal style that I like to categorise as Chic. And hence, this is my attempt. And hopefully I’ll be able to show to you many more attempts into channelling that laid-back look in the future.
