New Year Fitness Goals

Welcome to the New Year! We might already be a few days into 2018, but it’s never too late to set your goals and resolutions for the rest of the year. Fitness goals are high on everyone list of to-dos, but they can also be super difficult to stick with. Remember those unused gym memberships from past years. Hard as it can be, working out is great for your body and mind. Most people take the usual diet and gym routine to lose weight and get healthier, but there are other ways to bring a dose of fitness into your life. From workouts you enjoy and eating more mindfully to meditation and smart active wear, making simple changes in your life can make way for a healthier you. Go on, get fit!

Does every new year feel like another episode in a series of failed resolutions? Come January, you have a list of new goals – sleep more, lose weight, eat better and more. Before the month is over though, the list is lost and you’ve gone back to last year’s not-so-great habits.

Thou shalt choose a fun workout regime

Working out can be boring, but not if it’s your favourite activity. Ditch the gym for a regime you love, be it sports, dancing, zumba or outdoors yoga. Doing what you love will keep you motivated even on tough days.

Thou shalt sleep tight (and rise early)

Believe it or not, getting a good night’s sleep is great for metabolism and energy. Get 8-hours of nap and set the alarm for an early day.

Thou shalt walk, walk, walk

A breath of fresh air is always welcome! Whether it’s a stroll in the park or shopping in the mall, skip the wheels and walk. Your waistline will thank you!

Thou shalt eat healthy

Forget keto and juicing. Instead, eat small, balanced meals – include fruits, vegetables and foods that go easy on unhealthy fats. And stay away from fried and sugary foods.

Thou shalt stay hydrated

Water, water, lots of water. Stay perked up on 8 glasses of water (if not more) through the day and swap cola for a glass of juice.

Thou shalt keep your mind at ease

A healthy mind is key to a healthy body. Take up a hobby or join a meditation class, focus on work-life balance and if necessary, seek therapy and help from loved ones.
