THE COLOURS OF YULETIDE CHEER!

Think Christmas and you’re immediately in a world of green pine trees, red berries, snow, twinkly tinsel and the jolly red Santa. These are also perfect colours for your Yuletide wardrobe to add a dash of seasonal cheer. Red is a marvellous accent—use it in your accessories, headgear, shoes or scarves. A bright emerald tartan pattern is especially seasonal appropriate. Invest in a gorgeous, snowy white stole or scarf and you’ll be instantly Christmas ready. Christmas is also the perfect time to go all out on bling—just tell people you’re tinsel-themed!

The Joy of Christmas

The scarlet red of Santa Claus’s suit echoes the red of holly berries, a colourful fruit abundant in the European winter. Red also comes from the apples on the paradise tree, a religious symbol from Medieval times. If you’re feeling bold, go for a red jumpsuit, maxi dress or gown, though in magenta or marsala tones to sidestep the Santa suit. Red is also a marvelous accent—use it in your accessories, headgear, shoes or scarves.

Nature made green a Christmas colour. Holly trees and their red berries are the one bright spot of colour in a cold climate. This is why evergreen pines are a Yuletide staple too. A bright emerald tartan pattern is especially season appropriate. Show it off on trousers, skirts or pants. A trench coat in a deep jade palette looks beautiful on a cold, winter evening. You’ll also look dapper in green-hued shoes. A thick, knitted cable or fisherman-style sweater is another classic style for this season.

Cuteness Overload

A plush kid’s sweater with cute Christmas graphics—reindeers, Santa, candy canes—can be layered under a warm parka. When you’re feeling especially festive, let your child gambol in a shiny puffy jacket paired with warm boots. They’ll love running around in it!

Jingle All The Way

Invest in a gorgeous, snowy white stole or scarf and you’re Christmas ready. White also stands for purity and joy in the Christian tradition. An outerwear layer in the hue is a feminine way of ringing in the colours of Christmas. Of course, you can never go wrong with a classic white shirt in any ensemble.

Christmas is also the perfect time to go all out on bling—just tell people you’re tinsel-themed! Add a dash of glitter to your wardrobe and you’re party ready. Sparkly jewellery, bags or shoes are on-theme accents for a Christmas brunch or party. Make merry!
