Metanoia

Exposing a bit in India is still considered a risqué factor. To be honest, I still see girls wear dresses with leggings, shorts with leggings and drape an outerwear over a spaghetti strap top or a sleeveless dress and I know why I see that. Most of our girls are still hesitant to what they might believe as over exposing their body. Now not all Indian girls are like that and as bloggers we do try our best to change that perspective that not all girls who do dare dressing are bad girls. I’ve come through articles where girls have been slammed for inappropriate dressing and I stand my ground that it isn’t the dressing that promotes one’s character! Style does promote one’s personality but Character? No!

I know this because some years ago, I was asked to dress appropriately when I was wearing a spaghetti strap top by a random passerby in a street! That actually impacted me so much that I stopped wearing clothes that I felt was too “inappropriate” for our nation. But then as I grew up, I realised those random narrow minded people don’t matter to me and for me to grow myself as a Fashion enthusiast, I needed to take bolder measures towards my approach to fashion. And that led me to not hesitate for even a moment when I picked this open side top from Max Fashions. And I’m not afraid to flaunt my bra straps even!

I saw in my recent trip to Madrid how comfortable the girls were wearing what they liked and I loved how they loved and embraced their body shape. Made me ruefully realise India has yet a long way to come in that field. And for this very reason, a lot of International brands don’t send all those merchandise we see girls in other countries wearing (which some of us eventually purchase in International trips or from sites like Asos) because they don’t see India as a field where the merchandise could be sold and promoted. I was very glad that Max fashions decided to start incorporating designs like this in their collection, for to me, this is the brand’s initiative to drive high street fashion in India and I as a blogger would love to be a part of this initiative and intensively promote fashion in India. And that’s what Independence to me is all about.
